Qualifications
Born on Long Island, N.Y. in 1955, Jan Andrew Press attended Clark University, Worcester, MA then the State University of N.Y. at Oneonta where he received his B.A. Degree in 1977. He graduated from Tulane University College of Law, New Orleans, LA, with a Juris Doctor Degree in 1980.
Mr. Press was selected to serve a two year appointment as a Federal Law Clerk to a Chief U.S. District Court Judge in Louisiana. He first achieved his license to practice law in Louisiana in 1980 and in Florida in 1982. Thereafter he began his practical criminal law education and trial experience as an Assistant State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida, first in traffic court, then as lead misdemeanor division attorney, followed by misdemeanor supervisor and then as a felony trial attorney.
Since 1985, Mr. Press has engaged in the practice of law as a sole practitioner, concentrating on criminal defense. He has tried hundreds of jury and non-jury cases as a prosecutor and as defense attorney. He is a member of the Pinellas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, The Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Clearwater Bar Association.
Mr. Press enjoys the respect of his clients and peers. His philosophy over the years has been to provide personal service, establishing trust to fully advise and inform each client to achieve the best possible result. |
